Business Consulting that changes how your company operates

Most consulting firms hand you a slide deck and leave. We sit inside your business for weeks at a time, working alongside your team until the changes stick. That difference shows up in the numbers our clients report after the first year.

Documented client outcomes

Three firms we worked with between 2022 and 2024 agreed to share anonymised results. The figures below come directly from their management accounts.

  • A 14-person joinery workshop in Lisburn cut material waste by 22% within five months. Annual savings: roughly £38,000.
  • A recruitment agency with two offices consolidated its back-office processes. Headcount stayed flat while billings rose 17% over nine months.
  • A food distribution company restructured its delivery routing. Fuel costs dropped £11,400 per quarter; driver overtime fell by a third.
"They didn't just tell us what to change. They stayed until the new process was running without us having to think about it." — Operations director, distribution client, 2024

Our thesis on business consulting

Owner-managed firms in Northern Ireland face a specific problem. They grow past ten or fifteen employees and suddenly the informal systems that got them there start breaking. Decisions bottleneck at the founder. Margins shrink even as revenue climbs. Staff feel busy but can't point to what they actually produced last week.

We believe the fix is structural, not motivational. You don't need a vision statement. You need clear ownership of tasks, a reporting cadence that surfaces problems early, and pricing that reflects your real costs. That is what we build with you.

Every engagement starts with a two-day diagnostic. We interview your team individually, review your financial data, and map how work actually flows through the business. Not how the org chart says it should flow. How it does.

Inside a Northern Ireland workshop during a consulting engagement

Case narrative: the joinery workshop

When we arrived, the owner was pricing jobs from memory. He'd been doing it for twenty years and was usually close enough. But "close enough" meant some jobs earned 30% margin while others barely broke even. Nobody knew which was which until we mapped every job completed in the prior six months against actual material use and labour hours.

We built a simple costing template in a spreadsheet. Nothing fancy. Within two months, the team was quoting with real numbers. The owner raised prices on three product lines by 8–12% and lost zero customers. That alone added more value than our fee.

Capability map

We work across six areas. Not every client needs all six. The diagnostic tells us where to focus.

Operational structure

Task ownership, reporting lines, meeting cadence. We redesign how decisions get made so the founder isn't the bottleneck for everything.

Pricing and margins

Job costing, service pricing, discount policies. We connect your prices to your actual cost base instead of gut feel.

Cash flow management

Debtor chasing, payment terms, invoice timing. Small changes here often free up tens of thousands in working capital.

People and roles

Role clarity, hiring criteria, performance conversations. We help you move from "everyone does a bit of everything" to defined accountability.

Sales pipeline

Lead tracking, follow-up systems, conversion metrics. Most firms we meet have no idea how many enquiries they receive or what happens to them.

Growth readiness

Capacity planning, second-site feasibility, partnership structuring. When you're ready to scale, we stress-test the plan before you commit capital.

Is this a fit? A quick self-check

Revenue range
We typically work with firms turning over £500K to £8M. Below that, the engagement cost is hard to justify. Above that, you likely need a larger team than ours.
Team size
Five to sixty employees. Enough complexity that informal systems start failing, small enough that changes can be implemented fast.
Owner involvement
The business owner or managing director must be directly involved. We don't work through intermediaries. If the decision-maker isn't in the room, the project stalls.
Sector
We've worked across construction trades, professional services, food production, logistics, and retail. The principles transfer. What matters more is willingness to act on findings.
Timeline
A typical engagement runs eight to fourteen weeks. The diagnostic takes two days. Implementation support follows in weekly half-day sessions. We don't do twelve-month retainers unless there's a genuine reason.
Investment
The diagnostic is a fixed fee of £1,200 plus VAT. Full engagements range from £6,000 to £18,000 depending on scope. We quote after the diagnostic, never before.

The edge we bring

Our lead consultant spent eleven years running a building supplies company before moving into advisory work. She knows what it feels like when a supplier calls chasing payment and your biggest customer is sixty days overdue. That lived experience shapes how we work.

We don't use jargon. We don't build complex models that only we can interpret. Everything we produce belongs to you: spreadsheets, process documents, checklists. If we stopped working together tomorrow, you'd still have the tools.

"The diagnostic alone was worth the fee. We discovered we'd been undercharging our top three clients for over a year." — Founder, recruitment agency client, 2023

What we don't do

We don't write business plans for bank applications. We don't provide bookkeeping, tax advice, or legal counsel. We don't run training courses. If you need those services, we can refer you to people we trust, but they sit outside our scope.

Working principles

  • We share findings as we go, not in a final report nobody reads.
  • Every recommendation includes who will do it, by when, and how you'll know it worked.
  • If the diagnostic shows the business doesn't need us, we say so and invoice only for the diagnostic.
  • We limit active engagements to four at a time so each client gets genuine attention.

A note on confidentiality

We never name clients publicly without written consent. The case details on this page were approved by each business before publication. During engagements, we sign non-disclosure agreements as standard. Your financial data, staff information, and strategic plans stay between us.

How a typical week looks

Monday morning: a half-day on-site session with you and your team. We review progress against the previous week's actions, address blockers, and set the next batch of tasks. Between sessions, we're available by phone and email for questions. That rhythm keeps momentum without consuming your diary.
